Pickleball Stirling – Weekly Program

Thanks to the hard work of our steering group (James Kilgannon, David Simpson, Ken Moncrieff, Babs Bell, Peter Fletcher, Morag Hutchison, and myself), we can now confirm our weekly program of sessions for Pickleball Stirling.

Going forward, we will have sessions available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday of each week (except holidays).  We will be using the Allan Centre, Stirling High School, and The Peak.

The Peak have offered us a block booking for Sunday from 6 pm – 8 pm starting from 25th August until the end of December – this is subject to final confirmation with Peak staff following an internal meeting there on Tuesday.

There is work planned at The Peak to extend the gymnasium area and to create additional studio spaces – this will mean a reduction in the capacity of the sports hall by one-third and a closure of the hall for some time as work progresses.   This work is due to start at the start of next year and is the key reason why we had to secure other facilities like the Allan Centre and Stirling High.

Our first session at Stirling High will start this coming week (22nd August) The weekly program will then be as follows and over time we may adjust this to meet demand.

Monday – Allan Centre

12:00-2:00 pm “Get Into Pickleball” Beginners and Improvers Coach-Led Training

2:00-4:00 pm Social Open Play (3 courts)

Tuesday – Allan Centre

4:30-6:00 pm Social Open Play (3 courts)

Tuesday – Stirling High School

6:00-8:00 pm Improvers and Intermediates (4 courts)

Thursday – Stirling High School

6:00-8:00 pm “Get Into Pickleball” Beginners and Improvers (1 court) / Social Open Play (3 courts)

Sunday – The Peak (Subject to final confirmation)

6:00-8:00 pm Social Open Play (3 courts)

Session Costs

This is where things get a little bit complicated but we have done it this way to maximise value and minimise the costs as much as possible.

Allan Centre – To play at the Allan Centre, group members will be asked to become paid members of the Allan Centre. The cost of this is £50 per year or £25 per year for anyone aged 60 and above or in receipt of benefits.  This must be paid during September – forms will be handed out for completion etc.

The Peak – To play at the Peak you must either be a Peak member, which costs £30 per month or pay £12 for the two-hour session

Stirling High – We have had to do a club hire to secure this facility and to cover the costs we will need to charge £6 for each session. Initially, we will have to collect this payment in cash for the first couple of sessions, but once the Club is formally set up (August 27th) we will be able to take card payments via the Stack Team App for this.

These events will loaded into the Stack Team App – please remember to use the RSVP facility to ensure you have reserved your place.

Lastly – we have come a long way very quickly, but we have to be aware that if we don’t use these sessions we will lose them. So please make use of these sessions and encourage friends/family to get involved as well.

Thanks to everyone who has come along to the sessions and helped us get to where we are.
