Pickleball Stirling will be adopting DUPR as our Official Player Ratings System

Pickleball Stirling has a new official partnership with DUPR Pickleball Rating, the most accurate global rating system in the sport. DUPR is trusted by the world’s premier Pickleball clubs, professional tours, and recreational players alike.

What will our club use DUPR for?

It’s important you get a DUPR because your rating will be used exclusively for entry into any club competitions that we might run, any inter-club events and for skill assessment during any coaching programmes.

Do points scored in a match affect ratings?

If you are playing in a competitive match against other DUPR rated players, Yes! Think of it like a Golf Handicap – the more you play and record your scored into DUPR, the more accurate your rating will be.

What if I’m unrated and I play against other unrated players?

An unrated player is given a rating after their first match based on the level of the rated players and their performance against those players. After their first match, they can expect that rating to fluctuate with their next few matches, then begin to stabilize to reflect their level. Rated players that play against an NR (Non-rated) player will receive the impact from that match.

Generally, the amount a player moves depends on the match count and recency of the other players, so you should not expect to move a great deal if you play against an NR player and you have many recent matches.If all players are unrated, we do not know the level of the match, so we take a guess that the level is 3.5. The outcome of the match will push one team above 3.5 and the other below to properly reflect the levels displayed by the scores of the match. With each player’s next few matches, they will be able to move quickly toward their appropriate level, especially once they are playing rated players around their skill level.

What If I don’t Want to Play In Competitive Matches or Leagues?

That’s absolutely fine, we are an inclusive club, and it you just want to play for fun and the social side of things that’s not a problem. However, having a DUPR rateing can be a fun way to watch your skill level improve – but it is totally optional.

Upcoming DUPR Events For Pickleball Stirling:

Kickstart your DUPR by joining us for an official DUPR Rating Session. You’ll have the opportunity to play with a DUPR rated player and log those matches. One match result is all it takes to have a DUPR rating, and 5-10 match results is all it takes to have an even more accurate rating.

We’ll be announcing the first of these DUPR Ratings Sessions soon and we will aim to rotate these events regularly at all our locations. But before then, you need to get registered by downloading the App
